Erdogan Unveils New Government Composition: Nearly All Previous Members Are Out
Following his inauguration ceremony, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the new composition of the country's government late in the evening. Almost none of the previous members remain, and most of the newly appointed ministers have received education in Europe and the United States, reports RIA Novosti.
As such, Cevdet Yilmaz has been appointed as the Vice President, and former intelligence chief Hakan Fidan takes on the role of Foreign Minister. The Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Yasar Guler, has assumed the post of Minister of Defense.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek has taken the position of Minister of Finance. The post of Minister of Interior has been filled by Ali Yerlikaya, the governor of Istanbul.
It is worth noting that Erdogan's swearing-in ceremony took place yesterday.
