Zakharova Responds to Kilicdaroglu's Accusations
Russia does not act like the West and does not interfere in the internal political processes of other countries. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the statements made by the opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu regarding Russia's alleged interference in the electoral process during the Turkish presidential elections.
"We intend to continue systematic work with the Turkish side to develop the full scope of our relations. We reiterate that we do not follow the example of the collective West and do not seek to interfere in the internal affairs of other states," she said.
Zakharova emphasized that the Turkish people have demonstrated their preferences during the democratic expression of will. "We respect this choice," added the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
It should be noted that the second round of the presidential elections took place in Turkey on May 28. The country's Central Election Commission recognized Recep Tayyip Erdogan's victory. Based on the processing of 99.43% of the ballots, he received 52.14% of the votes, while the opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu received 47.86%.
