Blinken Calls on Turkey to Immediately Ratify Sweden's NATO Membership Agreement
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged Turkey not to obstruct Sweden's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). This information comes from TACC agency.
“We call on Turkey, as well as Hungary, which has also not ratified Sweden's NATO membership agreement, to promptly confirm it. Sweden is ready to join the alliance, and there is no reason to create obstacles. The time to make this decision is now,” Secretary Blinken stated.
It is worth noting that NATO member countries signed the protocols for Finland and Sweden's accession to the North Atlantic alliance in 2022. However, Turkey blocked the accession process, and it was only this April that Erdoğan signed the protocol for NATO's acceptance of Finland.
