US to Impose New Sanctions on Russia Related to Iranian Drones
On Wednesday, May 31, the United States will announce new restrictions against Russia concerning the tightening of export controls on technologies used in drones. This was announced by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“Tomorrow we will announce new measures that tighten export control on technologies found in Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles, which are used in attacks on Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure, as well as counter Russian disinformation and support human rights defenders,” Blinken said during a press conference.
On May 15, the White House stated that the Biden administration agreed to impose sanctions on those involved in the military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran. This mainly concerns the supply of Iranian drones to Moscow, as well as the provision of artillery and ammunition used during military operations in Ukraine. Both Russia and Iran deny information about these supplies.
