Gurgen Arsenyan: Armenians Live in Javakhk, Glendale... Our Primary Task is to Serve the Interests of Armenia
In a recent conversation with journalists, Gurgen Arsenyan, a deputy from the ruling Civil Contract party, addressed the question of why the opinions of Artsakh residents are overlooked, emphasizing that they do not see themselves as part of Azerbaijan.
“I have stated several times that the protection of Armenia's state interests is our primary task, for which we operate,” said Arsenyan. “All other issues are components of Armenia's sovereignty and livelihood agenda. Armenian politicians receive a mandate from the people to serve the state interests of Armenia. Any political figure who claims that Armenia's interests should be subordinated to the resolution of other issues is, in my opinion, engaging in anti-state activities.”
“There are compatriots living in Artsakh, Armenians live in Javakhk, and Armenians live in Glendale... the primary task of our state officials is to serve the interests of Armenia. We are faced with a dilemma when mind and heart begin to conflict. Sometimes, the protection of Armenia's national interests does not align with the algorithm of Armenia's national interests,” Arsenyan concluded.
