VIDEO: Armenia Ready to Accept Border Based on 1975 USSR Maps, Says Pashinyan

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has reaffirmed his stance that the demarcation and delimitation of borders with Azerbaijan should be carried out based on the maps from the General Staff of the Soviet Armed Forces dated 1975. According to him, these are the maps referred to by Russia. He stated, 'This, in our opinion, would mean ensuring stability in the current situation.'

Pashinyan noted with satisfaction that the international community has also framed this issue, which he characterized as 'important and commendable.'

Speaking about Azerbaijan's position, he emphasized that no shifts can be recorded. 'Ensuring border security is a crucial part of the negotiation process. There is no secret that Azerbaijan continues to pursue a policy of military pressure, trying to create more favorable conditions for negotiations. However, at the same time, I must note that this is a violation of internationally assumed obligations.'

According to Pashinyan, the 1975 maps can and should serve as a basis for further demarcation work. 'This implies the agreements reached in Prague on October 6, 2022, regarding delimitation based on the Alma-Ata Declaration.'
