The Withdrawal of Troops from the Border Line Becomes More Urgent, Says Pashinyan

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, considers the mirrored withdrawal of troops from the border line to be more urgent against the backdrop of Azerbaijan's continuing escalatory policies and the agreements reached in Brussels on May 14. Pashinyan made this statement during a government meeting.

“Despite some progress in negotiations, Azerbaijan continues to pursue an escalatory policy along the border with Armenia. In recent days, there have been gunfire incidents at our borders, and we have casualties. Bowing our heads before our fallen brothers, I want to emphasize once again that especially against the backdrop of the May 14 agreements, the mirrored withdrawal of troops from the border line and the demilitarization of the border has become increasingly urgent. We will continue to emphasize this agenda,” Pashinyan stated.

He also characterized the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor as another manifestation of Azerbaijan's escalatory policy, which once again highlights the legitimate need for international presence in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin Corridor. The Armenian side is discussing this issue with all its international partners.
