Biden Will Not Apologize for Hiroshima Bombing, Says Sullivan

Biden will not apologize in Hiroshima for dropping the atomic bomb on the city in 1945, according to U.S. National Security Adviser Sullivan.

  “The president will not be making statements; he will only participate in meetings with other leaders of the G7,” Sullivan told reporters. The summit of leaders will take place from May 19 to 21.

  On August 6, 1945, American planes bombed the Japanese city of Hiroshima, followed by Nagasaki three days later. As a result, more than 210,000 people were killed or went missing, and around 200,000 were exposed to radioactive radiation.

  The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the only instances of nuclear weapons being used in combat in human history.
