Video: Dispute Arises Between Families of Fallen Soldiers and Police
A dispute has arisen between the parents of fallen soldiers conducting a protest in Yerevan and police forces. According to armeniasputnik.am, the parents had hung photographs of state officials on the statue of the Walking Man on Northern Avenue, while the police attempted to prevent this.
The parents and relatives of the fallen soldiers, along with a group of public and political figures, are holding a protest near the National Assembly building of the Republic of Armenia. Among the participants is Naira Zohrabyan, the president of the NGO 'Security and Democracy'; Edgar Ghazaryan, former head of the Constitutional Court staff; and Ruben Melikyan, the former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh and a human rights activist.
They declare that this protest is against 'Citizens' Day' and call it 'Day of the Fallen Citizen.' One of the participants stated, 'We need to remove Nikol (Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan), so we don't have any more casualties, so no more people die, and the country no longer remains disgraced.'
The participant noted that they currently live in Yerevan because their home in Karvachar, Artsakh, no longer exists.
From the National Assembly, the protestors marched along Baghramyan Avenue and reached Northern Avenue, where they affixed images of representatives of the current authorities, including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, his wife Anna Hakobyan, former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, and former commander of the Armenian Armed Forces Jalal Harutyunyan on the statue of the Walking Man, claiming that they are to blame for all the evils.
