Erdogan's Office Responds to Incident of Burning Azerbaijani Flag
The office of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also addressed the incident of burning the Azerbaijani flag in Yerevan.
"The burning of the Azerbaijani flag during the European Weightlifting Championship in Yerevan is an expression of vandalism and a disrespectful attitude towards the public," the statement from the Turkish presidential office reads.
"We condemn this incident," the agency's statement continues.
It is worth noting that the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports had issued a statement indicating that the incident during the opening ceremony, which was resolved quickly, has no relation to the safety of the athletes and the assurance of their normal competition. All necessary conditions have been fully provided.
