Kadyrov Discusses Key Event in Chechnya's History
The adoption of the Constitution of Chechnya is the most significant event in the republic's history, dividing our lives into 'before and after,' wrote the region's leader Ramzan Kadyrov on his Telegram channel.
On March 23, 2003, during a nationwide referendum, the Constitution of the republic was adopted. The work on the new constitution was carried out by the Chechen Constitutional Commission and completed on July 10, 2002. The version proposed by the head of the republic's administration, Akhmad Kadyrov, was accepted as the basis.
"The adoption of the Constitution of the Chechen Republic is undoubtedly the most important event in our history. This day divided our lives into before and after, strengthened the region's position as part of a strong state, and determined the vector for future development. The decision to hold the referendum, which was questionable for many, united the desperate people. The results dispelled all contradictions," Kadyrov wrote.
He also recalled that attempts by bandits to terrorize the people turned into a real uprising.
