Russia Interested in Strengthening Relations with Azerbaijan: Ovechuk
Russia is interested in strengthening and developing relations with Azerbaijan. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Ovechuk during the opening ceremony of the «Khanoba» customs checkpoint on the border of the two countries, according to Azerbaijani news sources.
"What is happening in the world today—the climate changes, technological and energy transitions—all lead to the establishment of new regions and trade relations. This will also impact the North-South international transport corridor. We are constructing this corridor together with Azerbaijan and other countries. The transfer of automobiles is already confirmed here. Today we used the new road; this infrastructure is already ready. Additionally, negotiations are underway with Azerbaijan regarding the development of railway infrastructure. This project will connect Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, and the Persian Gulf," he said.
He also noted that the «Khanoba» customs checkpoint will ensure the smooth and efficient movement of goods from India and Pakistan through the territories of Iran and Azerbaijan to Russia. "This will be the most important transport highway of the 21st century, and in fact, today the first element of this highway was put into operation," said the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.
