5.1 Magnitude Earthquake in Iran Felt in Armenia
A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck Iran, located 41 kilometers southwest of the city of Khoy. This information was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
On March 16, 2023, at 15:47 local time (11:47 GMT), the seismic network of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of Armenia registered an earthquake at geographic coordinates 38.32° N latitude and 45.32° E longitude, 41 kilometers southwest of Khoy, with a depth of 10 kilometers. The intensity of the underground tremor in the epicentral zone was measured at 7 points.
The earthquake was felt in the Syunik region with a magnitude of 3-4, in Vayots Dzor and Ararat regions at 3 points, and in Yerevan at 2-3 points.
