‘The Situation Has Reached a Point Where It Is Political Suicide Even for Pashinyan’: Abrahamyan
The situation has reached a point where it is political suicide even for Pashinyan, wrote Tigran Abrahamyan, the secretary of the 'I Have Honor' parliamentary faction, on his Facebook page.
'Recently, various reports of an escalating situation in the region, particularly around Armenia and Artsakh, have been circulating continuously. The leader of the ruling party, who is essentially responsible for the situation, has also declared this.
If we filter out external and regional factors, what is the actual reason for the emergence of such a severe situation at this stage? A noteworthy part of Pashinyan's press conference pertained to the deadlock in negotiations. The agreements reached in Prague, which fundamentally harmed Armenian interests, have been annulled by Azerbaijan, which is now presenting new ambitious proposals. These proposals directly imply conducting negotiations between Artsakh and Azerbaijan under a single agenda of integration.
Secondly, Azerbaijan refuses to establish any type of international guarantees in Artsakh, considering that issues related to security and others are its internal matters.
Thirdly, Azerbaijan sees the only format for negotiations with Artsakh as a bilateral one, excluding the involvement of Russia or any other entity or structure.
Fourthly, Azerbaijan is actively promoting the idea of 'Western Azerbaijan,' attempting to incorporate it into the Armenia-Azerbaijan agreement, which provides an opportunity to legitimize an attack against Armenia.
When Pashinyan states that Azerbaijan's new proposals cross red lines, he is not worried about the interests of Armenia or Artsakh but sees the issue as a means of saving his own skin. The situation has reached a point where it is political suicide even for Pashinyan, and he has begun to think about his security and future because this situation will eventually explode from within, taking many along with him.'
