Garibashvili Urges Zelensky to 'Control His Country'
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, gave an interview to the pro-government television channel Imedi, where he attempted to explain who is behind the March protests in Tbilisi. The head of the Georgian government referred to the 'radical opposition' as both extremist and a non-governmental organization in Georgia, according to SOVA.
“We heard numerous criticisms that the police went too far. This is a lie and nonsense. Who started the violence? The violence was initiated by the youth wing of the National Movement; we all know them by name. The violence began with the so-called 'Girchi' movement, the Japaridze movement, and the 'anarchists' from the Franklin club. I was shocked when I saw photos of some protesters; they looked like some kind of satanists. This organization, the collective national movement, has already turned into an extremist organization and is on the verge of becoming terrorist,” said Garibashvili.
At the same time, the Georgian Prime Minister reiterated that Ukrainian politicians are trying to drag Georgia into war. “When a person at war finds time to comment on a destructive operation involving several thousand people in Georgia, this is clear evidence that this person is involved and wants something to happen here, to change. You mentioned several foreign politicians, spoke of Klitschko, Feigin, some strange individuals, Arachamia, and some losers who said that changes and a coup are needed; look at your country, and we will look at ours,” Garibashvili added.
It should be noted that days ago, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed support for Georgia, stating that all Ukrainians wish their Georgian friends democratic success and progress in European integration. Mass protests had been ongoing in Georgia for several days, with hundreds of protesters demanding the withdrawal of the draft law on 'foreign agents' in front of the parliament.
