Azerbaijan's Milli Mejlis Speaker Pushes False Theses and Targets Armenian Parliament Speaker at Bahrain Conference

Following the speech of Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan at the Inter-Parliamentary Union assembly in Bahrain, Azerbaijan's Milli Mejlis Speaker Sahibag Gafarova delivered a rebuttal. This was reported by the Public Relations and Communication Department of the National Assembly.

“First of all, the Azerbaijani lady violated the time allocated for speeches according to the agenda. She used additional minutes to convince the attendees that the Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan is overlooking the reality. Her speech in a semi-empty hall contained nothing new. She continued to push the long-exhausted thesis about Azerbaijan liberating Nagorno-Karabakh and the centuries-old habit of Azerbaijanis to display high tolerance. Interestingly, without addressing any of the facts presented in Alen Simonyan's speech about the so-called eco-activists and others, Gafarova only targeted the Armenian Parliament Speaker without formulating any substantiated argument.

After the speeches, Alen Simonyan was requested for an interview by one of the Azerbaijani television channels, to which he responded. This interview has not yet been broadcast,” the statement said.
