Decision on the 'Lachin Corridor' Published
The Hague Court has published its decision in the case of Armenia against Azerbaijan, which we present briefly.
Since December 12, the connection through the Lachin Corridor has been disrupted, obstructing the delivery of food, medicines, and other essential goods to Nagorno-Karabakh, which could cause irreversible harm. The court considers that the application of temporary measures is necessary and notes that Azerbaijan is obliged to take measures to ensure the uninterrupted movement of people and cargo in both directions through the Lachin Corridor.
The court believes that the lack of food and medicines could have irreversible consequences for people's lives. As for the interruptions in gas supply, Armenia did not provide sufficient evidence that Azerbaijan is creating an obstacle related to the gas supply issue.
Details will follow shortly.
We recall that Armenia has requested the International Court of Justice to apply the following temporary measures: Azerbaijan must cease organizing and supporting so-called "protests" that obstruct the uninterrupted movement along the Lachin Corridor in both directions, ensure the uninterrupted free movement of all individuals, vehicles, and cargo, and immediately restore and refrain from disrupting or obstructing the supply of natural gas and other utilities to Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan, on the other hand, demands the application of interim measures and obliges Armenia to "cease landmine placements and transferring mines through the Lachin Corridor."
