Canada, Like France, Urges Its Citizens to Leave Belarus Immediately
Following France, Canada has recommended its citizens not to visit Belarus, and those who are already there to leave the country immediately, as stated in a warning from Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Avoid any travel to Belarus due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws and the risk of armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine," the statement said.
Canada's Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Canadian embassy's ability to provide consular services in Belarus is "extremely limited," urging citizens to leave by commercial means.
The reasons for this advisory include the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the unstable political situation in the country following protests in 2020, an increase in fraud and robbery, and the threat of terrorism.
For those citizens who choose to remain in Belarus, the Ministry advised staying informed with "reliable news," reviewing "personal security plans" daily, having a supply of medications and cash, and being prepared to hide in a safe location.
It should be noted that France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also urged its citizens to leave Belarus urgently.
