Western Arms Supplies to Ukraine Only Prolong the Conflict, Peskov

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, commented on the Pentagon's announcement regarding the supply of long-range missiles to Kyiv, recalling Vladimir Putin's remarks during a concert dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad. “It is important not to forget Putin's statement yesterday in Volgograd,” he said.

Previously, the Russian leader stated that those who expect to achieve victory over Russia on the battlefield by involving European countries in a new confrontation do not understand that “the modern war with Russia will be entirely different for them.” Putin emphasized that Moscow is not sending its tanks to the borders of Western countries, but it “has answers to provide, and the use of armored vehicles will continue.”

The United States announced a $2.2 billion military aid package for Ukraine yesterday, which includes air defense and long-range missiles. The Pentagon clarified that Washington leaves it to Kyiv’s discretion to use these weapons against Crimea.

Against the backdrop of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, the U.S. and NATO allies continue to support Kyiv, sending it tens of billions of dollars in weaponry. Moscow, for its part, has repeatedly stated that the supply of Western arms only prolongs the conflict.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously highlighted that the U.S. and NATO are directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict, “including not only the supply of weapons but also personnel training” in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries.
