Prosecutor General's Office Demands Seizure of 11 Real Estate Properties from Former Tavush Governor Valued at 1,608,540 Dram
On January 24, 2023, the Anti-Corruption Court accepted another petition regarding the seizure of property of illegal origin, according to reports from the Prosecutor General's Office.
The Prosecutor General's Office's Department for the Seizure of Property of Illegal Origin has presented a demand to the court to seize from H.A., the former governor of Tavush province, and associated individuals on behalf of the Republic of Armenia:
- 11 real estate properties, five of which are located in Yerevan and six in Tavush province, as well as their average market values—in case of impossibility—amounting to 1 billion 256 million 765 thousand dram;
- Three movable properties;
- Two participations in legal entities.
The purchase value of shares acquired in a Czech company is 1,608,540 dram.
The amount of 389 million 257 thousand 456 dram, which is not substantiated by legal income, is considered to have illegal origin and is impossible to seize based on the provision of Article 20, Part 4 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Seizure of Property of Illegal Origin (if the property of illegal origin has been transferred to a bona fide acquirer, or it is impossible to identify, separate, or seize, then the court may, in the presence of a relevant demand, seize from the defendant an amount equivalent to the market value of the property of illegal origin at the moment of filing the claim).
