Armenia's Position on Refusing CSTO Exercises Will Be Clarified, Peskov Says
The position of Armenia regarding its refusal to participate in CSTO exercises will be clarified. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, to journalists.
“This is quite a new statement from the Prime Minister of Armenia. I believe that CSTO partners will be in touch and will clarify the details of Armenia's position. In any case, Armenia is our very close ally. We will continue the dialogue, including on issues that are currently very complex,” Peskov said to reporters.
Earlier, the CSTO Joint Staff confirmed that it had received information from the Armenian Ministry of Defense about the impracticality of holding exercises with CSTO peacekeeping forces in 2023. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also announced this during a press conference regarding the refusal to hold exercises.
