«There Are Things That Cannot Be Denied» - Grigoryan Responds to Hajiyev
In the National Assembly, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan responded to the remarks of Hikmet Hajiyev, an advisor to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, stating that during the negotiations held in Washington, the Armenian side was not alone in the room as the American side was also present.
“Sometimes it seems to me that there are things that cannot be denied because there are numerous factual data. The points we discussed with the Azerbaijani side are documented, and the Azerbaijani side is aware of this. I am surprised that proven facts are being denied,” said Grigoryan.
Grigoryan emphasized that the Armenian side will continue to work to understand what mechanisms can be created for discussions to be held between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan for an agreement. According to him, there has been interest from international partners in continuing work in this direction.
It is worth recalling that Hikmet Hajiyev, the assistant to the Azerbaijani president, responded to the statement made by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan. Hajiyev stated that during the meeting with Grigoryan, mediated by Jake Sullivan, U.S. National Security Advisor, he announced that Azerbaijan will not discuss the rights and security issues of the Armenian population of Karabakh with international partners, as this is “Azerbaijan's internal affair.”
