Earthquake 99 km Southwest of Makhachkala, Felt in Armenia
On December 8, at 10:42 local time (06:42 GMT), an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 was recorded by the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia. The quake occurred 99 km southwest of the city of Makhachkala in Russia, at a depth of 10 km, with geographical coordinates of 42.23° N latitude and 46.82° E longitude.
The strength of the tremors in the epicentral zone reached 7-8 on the Richter scale. The earthquake was felt in the Tavush and Lori regions of Armenia at a magnitude of 3-4, and in the Gegharkunik region at a magnitude of 3.
