Artsakh Security Council Denies Reports of Azerbaijani Checkpoint in Lachin Corridor
Reports circulating in the media claiming that the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces stationed in the Republic of Artsakh has agreed to set up an Azerbaijani customs checkpoint in the Lachin Corridor are not true. This was stated in a press release from the Artsakh Security Council (ASC).
The statement specifically mentions: “To prevent the entry of prohibited items under the responsibility of the peacekeeping forces, the possibility of installing X-ray scanners at the number 1 checkpoint in the Lachin Corridor has been discussed by the Russian peacekeepers for the purpose of inspecting incoming vehicles. The control of cargo is planned to be carried out by the specialists of the peacekeeping forces.”
“Thus, we again emphasize that the rumors about the establishment of an Azerbaijani checkpoint in the Lachin Corridor are fake and do not correspond to the provisions of the trilateral statement adopted by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia. We urge not to succumb to misinformation and to follow only official news,” the statement concluded.
