The Border Situation is Tense, Says Suren Papikyan
The border situation can be assessed as tense. This was stated by Armenia's Minister of Defense, Suren Papikyan, during a broadcast on Public Television.
He noted that constant gunfire is heard and the situation has not changed over the past year.
According to the minister, significant engineering work has been carried out along the entire border in the last year. “Those who have had any interaction with the border can attest to that. And after the recent events, we have new defensive lines; significant work has also been done here in the last two months. I cannot say it is ideal; it is far from perfect, but at this moment I can assess it as adequate. It is a daily job, and we will continue this work even after changes in weather conditions,” he stated.
When asked if Armenia is seeking to acquire weapons from other markets due to issues faced by the country supplying weapons, Papikyan said that they are trying to find new markets and there are already visible results. “The results are close to being tangible; I cannot talk more about it on air,” he mentioned.
