Video: Volcano Erupts in Indonesia
In East Java province (Java Island) of Indonesia, the Semeru volcano erupted today, as reported by Indonesia's National Agency for Disaster Mitigation. The agency stated that the volcano released a column of ash reaching 1,500 meters into the air, and authorities have prohibited access within a five-kilometer radius of the volcano. So far, there are no reports of consequences or casualties, according to TASS.
At the same time, Japan's National Meteorological Agency has warned of a tsunami risk that could reach the Okinawa Prefecture. It is worth noting that the Semeru volcano erupted exactly one year ago on December 4, causing over 50 fatalities.
