State Employees to Receive Higher Salaries Instead of Bonuses, Minister Says
The government has proposed a draft law to increase the minimum wage starting January 1, 2023, which will also correspondingly raise the base salary. Finance Minister Tigran Khachatryan stated this during a press briefing with journalists.
“These base salaries will be partially funded purely from the additional funds that the government will allocate to the salary fund. A portion that was previously referred to as bonuses will be recalculated as part of the salary. In other words, what we used to call bonuses will now be part of the salaries of public servants. State employees will receive more than they previously did, and part of what was called a bonus will henceforth be referred to as salary,” the minister noted.
