VIDEO: Damage to Nord Stream is the Result of Powerful Explosions; First Underwater Footage Released
Swedish newspaper Expressen has published the first footage of the damage to the Nord Stream gas pipelines. This publication has received exclusive permission from the authorities to film.
"A significant amount of effort is required to damage such thick metal, as we can see," quotes the drone operator Trond Larsen.
The explosion of the gas pipelines in Sweden is being investigated by the Säpo security police. The Copenhagen police have also announced that they are conducting a preliminary investigation into the extraordinary incident in the Baltic Sea, with the assistance of the armed forces and in cooperation with Norway's police security service.
"The investigation has confirmed that significant damage has been caused to the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in Denmark's exclusive economic zone, and that the damage is the result of powerful explosions," the police statement reads. They noted that it is still premature to discuss the potential involvement of Sweden and Germany in the investigation.
On September 26, simultaneous acts of sabotage occurred on the two Russian export pipelines, Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. The explosions took place in the exclusive economic zones of Sweden and Denmark.
