Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry Claims Baku Has No Territorial Ambitions Toward Armenia, Statement from Iran

Iran calls for the resolution of Armenian-Azerbaijani disputes through peaceful means. This message was conveyed by the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, during a phone conversation with Azerbaijan's Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, according to Iranian IRNA news agency.

According to the Iranian side, the Azerbaijani Defense Minister stated that Baku has no territorial ambitions toward Armenia, does not plan military operations for this purpose, and believes that issues can be resolved through negotiations.

As reported, the intense military operations that began at midnight on September 13 along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border resulted in 206 casualties and missing persons on the Armenian side, with at least 20 prisoners of war. On the Azerbaijani side, there were 80 casualties, and both sides have hundreds of injured.

A ceasefire was declared on the evening of September 14; however, it has been periodically violated, leading to three casualties and one injured on the Armenian side, and four injured on the Azerbaijani side.

As of 22:00 on September 28, the situation along the border is relatively stable.
