Zas is Coming to Armenia
The CSTO Security Council has decided to send a mission to Armenia under the leadership of the organization's Secretary General Stanislav Zas to assess the situation and prepare a report for the heads of state.
According to a statement released by the CSTO Secretariat, the mission will include the chief of the organization's joint staff, Anatoly Sidorov, and representatives from participating states.
The council also fully supported Russia's mediation efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
It was decided to create a working group for the ongoing monitoring of the situation in the CSTO responsibility zone. This group will consist of secretariat staff and military personnel from the joint staff.
It should be noted that, in response to Azerbaijan's aggression, the Armenian government has already appealed to Russia, the UN, and the CSTO.
On September 13, an extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council convened under the chairmanship of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which was called at Armenia's request.
