5 Injured Soldiers Transferred to Medical Facility by Rescuers
On September 13, 2022, at 00:14, the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and regional crisis management centers received numerous alerts regarding military operations conducted by Azerbaijani armed forces in the southeastern part of Armenia. Due to the heightened tensions at the border, under the order of Emergency Situations Minister A. Pambukhchyan, the regional rescue departments of Gegharkunik, Syunik, and Vayots Dzor were put on high alert for necessary response.
The rescue service transitioned to an intensified operational mode. Between 01:04 and 01:40, 7 sirens were activated in Gegharkunik province, with 2 in Vardenis city and 5 in the villages of Shatvan, Jaghtzadzor, Geghamabak, Shatjrek, and Akunk.
At 01:49, an alert was received about a fire breaking out near a military unit in the town of Jermuk in Vayots Dzor province. The fire was extinguished by the fire and rescue squad of the regional emergency management department. Grass cover was burnt in the incident.
5 soldiers from military unit N were subsequently transferred by the fire and rescue personnel to a designated medical facility.
At 01:46, another alert indicated a fire in one of the houses in the village of Akner in Syunik province. The fire was also extinguished by the emergency management department’s fire and rescue teams, damaging approximately 75 square meters of the wooden structure of the roof.
At 08:24, a report was received about a fire near number 20 on Shahumyan street in Jermuk. This fire was also tackled by the emergency management department, resulting in about 10 square meters of turf and a tree stump being burnt.
At 08:53, it was reported that due to shelling, a shell had fallen and damaged one of the houses in the village of Verishen in Syunik province. Fire and rescue teams carried out monitoring at the location. The affected areas included several settlements in Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, and Syunik provinces targeted by artillery fire.
