The US Responds to Baku's Hysterical Statement
The US State Department has responded to the statement from official Baku regarding the appointment of a new co-chair for the OSCE Minsk Group, which claimed that such steps "cannot contribute to the resolution of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations." According to Armenpress, Vedant Patel, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Bureau of Global Public Affairs, specifically noted in relation to the Azerbaijani statement that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has appointed Philip Reeker as a "senior advisor for negotiations in the Caucasus to underscore our commitment to establishing peace in the South Caucasus."
"As a country, we are committed to facilitating direct dialogue with Azerbaijan and Armenia on both bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as through collaborations with like-minded partners to achieve a comprehensive peace settlement between the two countries," he stated.
Patel also reiterated that Ambassador Reeker will represent the US both in the Minsk Group and in the Geneva international negotiations moving forward.
