Russian Defense Ministry on Strikes to Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant

“On August 7, the Zelensky regime committed a nuclear act of terrorism against the energy infrastructure of the Zaporizhzhia NPP with the aim of creating a humanitarian disaster in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions,” the Russian Defense Ministry announced, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“Around 12:40, units of the 44th Ukrainian artillery brigade shelled the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant from the settlement of Marhanets, located on the opposite bank of the Kakhovka reservoir. As a result of the Ukrainian shelling, the Kakhovskaya high voltage line was damaged, which supplied electricity to the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions,” the Russian Defense Ministry specifically stated.

It is noteworthy that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been under Russian control for more than three months, but the Ukrainian side insists that Russian forces are shelling the area around the nuclear power plant from neighboring villages in order to blame Ukraine for the threat of a nuclear disaster.
