Two Soldiers Killed at Iran's Border
Two border guard soldiers have been killed at the border of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The border guards were killed while patrolling in the Salmas border area of West Azerbaijan province, according to the Mehr news agency.
The public relations department of the West Azerbaijan provincial border forces issued a statement indicating that two service members of the border guard battalion were killed while monitoring the borders in Salmas, located in northwestern Iran.
The Salmas region borders Iraqi Kurdistan to the west and Turkey to the northwest. Details of the incident are not yet known. Relevant authorities are expected to release a statement on the matter later.
