Man Dies from Hit-and-Run Incident, Police Provide Details
On May 31, at 13:55, a citizen called the police to report that there was a male corpse near the "Armavir" penitentiary. Law enforcement officers from the Vagharshapat division located the body of Mekhak Tamoyan, a resident of Echmiadzin, born in 1964, at the site indicated by the caller.
The body exhibited injuries, including abrasions, contusions, hemorrhages, and fractures. A criminal case was initiated with the classification of murder by the territorial investigative body. In order to clarify the circumstances of Mekhak Tamoyan's death, the criminal investigators of Vagharshapat undertook various operational measures.
As a result of over a month of diligent work, they determined that the man was struck in a hit-and-run incident, likely occurring between May 30 and 31. It was also revealed that the driver of the Ford involved in the hit-and-run was a 28-year-old resident of Griboyedov village in the Armavir region.
The suspect was located, arrested on July 11, and subsequently presented to the prosecuting body. The 28-year-old man has provided a confession. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
