Video: Armenian Soldier Transfers Information to Enemy for 2 Million Dram Reward

As a result of effective operational-intelligence measures taken by the Military Counterintelligence Department of the National Security Service of Armenia, it has been established that an Armenian citizen, serving as a soldier, possessed information regarding the command staff, weaponry, military equipment, and the number of servicemen of military unit N, which serves as a training center, as well as the locations of certain subdivisions of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

The NSS reports that under these circumstances, the individual came into contact with a representative of a foreign intelligence service through the social network "ok.ru" and was recruited by this representative. Following this, in exchange for a promise of receiving a reward of 2,000,000 AMD, the soldier collected and transmitted information about their military unit’s buildings and structures, the quantity and types of weaponry and military vehicles, the number of reconnaissance and other units conducting exercises at the training center, and the purposes of the conducted training sessions via the messaging app WhatsApp, as well as by making regular video calls and sending messages.

In connection with the case of state betrayal, a criminal case has been initiated by the investigation department of the NSS of Armenia. The citizen has been arrested and has provided a confessing testimony. Subsequently, based on the sufficient evidence gathered for the criminal case, he has been charged as an accused, and a preventive measure of remand in custody has been applied against him.

We again urge the public, especially soldiers, to refrain from establishing contacts with suspicious individuals through social networks or other means, especially discussing and transferring information related to Armenia's security and defense.

It is also reported that according to the legal regulations envisaged by the criminal code of the Republic of Armenia, state betrayal may result in a sentence of life imprisonment. The service calls on everyone to avoid such disgraceful and extremely dangerous illegal acts that threaten the external and internal security of the country and the lives and health of others.
