"Everything Can End By the End of the Day" - Peskov on Conditions for Ceasing Hostilities
The Ukrainian authorities can halt hostilities in their territory if military personnel are ordered to lay down their arms and comply with Russia's conditions, stated Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, as reported by Vedomosti.ru.
"The Ukrainian side can stop everything by the end of the current day. An order is needed for nationalist units to lay down their arms, an order for Ukrainian military personnel to lay down their arms; the conditions of the Russian Federation must be fulfilled. Everything can end by the end of the day," emphasized Peskov.
According to him, the rest are just Zelensky's reflections. The Russian side is guided by the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Peskov noted that the special operation is proceeding according to plan and will achieve its objectives. Moscow has not specified approximate deadlines for the completion of the operation, he added.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a virtual meeting with G7 leaders on Monday, expressed his desire for the war in Ukraine to end by the end of 2022. Zelensky addressed the session via video link from Schloss Elmau castle in the Bavarian Alps during the morning meeting. He called for strong efforts to conclude the war before winter, the source reported. The source notes that Zelensky's message was a clear signal of how he perceives the course of the war.
