UK Imposes New Sanctions Against Russia: What Are They?
The UK has imposed a ban on the export of pound sterling and euro banknotes to Russia, along with a prohibition on aviation fuel exports. This was stated in a declaration from the British government released on June 23.
Specifically, the new measures include a ban on the export of "jet fuel for jet engines, as well as fuel additives to be exported to or used in Russia." Additionally, there is a ban on banknotes valued in pounds sterling and euros to be exported to or used in Russia, provided to or sent to individuals connected with Russia, and used within the country.
Moreover, sanctions against Russia have been expanded in the areas of technical assistance, financial services, and brokerage services related to the import of iron and steel. New restrictions are being introduced on the export of goods and technologies that are related to the oil refining sector and essential industrial products. The restrictions also apply to items that could be utilized in the production of chemical and biological weapons, as reported by Interfax.
