Azerbaijan Refuses to Return Armenian Prisoners of War, Says Ararat Mirzoyan
“We highly appreciate Russia's efforts aimed at the implementation of the agreements reached by the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, among which the issue of the return of Armenian prisoners of war is extremely relevant and urgent,” stated Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today.
“Thanks to these efforts, it became possible to return some of the Armenian captives to their homeland. At the same time, nearly one and a half to two years after the end of military operations, Azerbaijan, violating international humanitarian law, is hindering the implementation of the provisions of the statement and refusing to return Armenian prisoners of war and other detained individuals,” the minister noted, expressing hope that the Russian side would exert even greater efforts in this direction.
