Pashinyan and Iranian President Discuss Delimitation Issues
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, have spoken by phone. The information was reported by the press service of the Prime Minister of Armenia.
According to the statement, Pashinyan informed Raisi about the recent meeting that took place in Brussels and shared his impressions regarding it.
The two interlocutors exchanged thoughts on the opening of regional communications, the commencement of delimitation works on the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the process of resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, and the prospects for normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
They also discussed issues related to the bilateral agenda, with special attention given to the third electric line between Armenia and Iran, the construction of the North-South highway, and energy sector matters.
The interlocutors reaffirmed their invitations to make official visits to each other's countries and agreed to have reciprocal visits to the capitals of both countries.
It is noteworthy that on May 22, a trilateral meeting took place in Brussels between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of the European Council Charles Michel, and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. As a result of the joint discussion, agreements were reached on opening regional communications, delimitation of borders, and starting the work of the commission on security issues.
The agenda also included the preparations for the negotiations aimed at normalizing relations between the two countries, humanitarian issues, and the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It was agreed to continue trilateral meetings, with plans for such a meeting to be held in July or August.
