Raucous Scene at Ministry as Opposition MPs Storm Health Ministry

Members of the National Assembly's 'Armenia' faction Kristine Vardanyan, Aspram Krpeyan, and Anna Mkrtchyan today entered the Ministry of Health, disregarding police requests. They crossed under the security barrier, ignoring the pleas of security staff, and reached the office of the Minister of Health, who was holding a meeting at the time.

Their actions were provoked by Anahit Avanesyan's statement yesterday that police forces act according to democratic principles and the letter of the law. The opposition lawmakers threw pictures of fallen soldiers towards the minister, which ended up on the floor.

The Minister later responded to the incident. 'Today, several unruly individuals, having squeezed under the security barriers and without adhering to basic rules of decorum, invaded the office, squawked, waved their hands, took photos, and left very pleased with their vulgar behavior. A parliamentary mandate is not an indulgence to exhibit hooligan behavior, but a legally defined opportunity to schedule a meeting, come at the appointed time like a normal person, show their ID, and enter. I reiterate what I said yesterday – hooligan manifestations must be strictly halted and punished by the police and other law enforcement bodies in accordance with the law. Armenia is a country of law,' Avanesyan stated in a Facebook post.
