Hripsime Khurshudyan Takes 5th Place at European Weightlifting Championship After 6-Year Break
The European Weightlifting Championship is nearing its conclusion. The competition in Tirana, Albania, featured female athletes in the 87 kg weight category. Armenia's Hripsime Khurshudyan returned to the European Championship after a 6-year hiatus.
In the snatch event, Khurshudyan successfully lifted 102 kg and 105 kg in two of her three attempts, finishing in 4th place in this category. In the clean and jerk, the Armenian weightlifter managed only one successful attempt, lifting 122 kg overhead. With a total lift of 227 kg, Hripsime Khurshudyan secured 5th place overall.
Previously, it was reported that in the men’s 102 kg weight class, Armenia’s Samvel Gasparyan claimed the silver medal with a total lift of 390 kg (176 + 214), falling short by just 2 kg to the Bulgarian champion. In the 109 kg category, Armenia's Arsen Martirosyan achieved a total of 371 kg (170 + 201), earning him third place on the podium.
The last day of competition, June 5, will see super heavyweight lifters Gor Minasyan and Varazdat Alayan (+109 kg) in action, starting at 18:00.
