"Long-term hotspots of tension are forming along the CSTO borders," Shoigu
Long-term hotspots of tension are forming near the CSTO borders, which requires continuous enhancement of the organization's forces and capabilities. This opinion was expressed by Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu during a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
“Long-term hotspots of tension are forming along the CSTO borders. In this context, a clear coordination and continuous improvement of the forces and means within the Collective Security System are required, as well as mechanisms for decision-making and responding to crisis situations,” the minister stated.
He emphasized that Moscow is decisively committed to developing cooperation within the organization along all main directions. Shoigu noted that Western countries are deliberately working to undermine the allied relations between CSTO member states.
“We know what kind of pressure is being exerted on our allies. Open threats, blackmail, and intrigues are being used. All of this requires greater cohesion on our part and more active and precise coordination of actions,” Shoigu said.
The minister highlighted that Moscow will provide necessary assistance to its allies in neutralizing emerging threats and protecting sovereignty. It should be noted that the meeting, held in a video conference format, is chaired by Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan. The CSTO includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
