Berlin to Supply First 15 'Gepard' Tanks to Ukraine in July: German Defense Ministry
Germany will supply the first 15 'Gepard' tanks to Ukraine in July, a spokesperson for the defense ministry in Berlin said on Friday, confirming media reports. This information was reported by Reuters.
Germany's Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht agreed via video call with her Ukrainian counterpart Oleksii Reznikov.
At the end of April, Germany announced that it would supply heavy weapons to Kyiv for the first time, specifically 'Gepard' anti-aircraft tanks, after critics accused Berlin of delaying the supply of heavy weapons to Kyiv. Since then, Germany has also donated seven self-propelled howitzers to Kyiv and has begun training Ukrainian troops on how to use them.
