Husband Jumped Into River to Save Arminé, Followed by Rescue Officials: Director
Arminé Jagharyan, the host of the program "My Suitcase and I" broadcast on Shant TV, was filming a segment on rafting alongside the crew and employees of the company "Rafting in Armenia" in the Debed River.
In an interview with NEWS.am, the director of the program, Hakob Karapetian, shared that they had been warned in advance by their rafting company about poor weather conditions, but then were told it was safe to proceed.
“There were seven of us in the boat—three from the filming crew and four from the rafting staff. We were on the river for about 15 minutes when we hit a rock in the middle, and the boat tipped. Arminé fell into the water, and I fell in too. The river took her away immediately, but I managed to get out. Her husband jumped into the river to save her, followed by the rescue officials, but they were unable to reach her in time. The river was flowing very fast and carried her away in seconds. She was swept away about 10 kilometers, and rescuers retrieved her in Alaverdi,” he explained.
It should be noted that the Investigative Committee is preparing materials regarding the incident, and after the forensic examination, it will be revealed under which article of the Criminal Code a criminal case will be initiated.
