Earthquake Felt in All Settlements of Shirak Region: Possible Damages Being Assessed – Shirak Governor
The Governor of Shirak, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, stated on her Facebook page: “The earthquake was felt with considerable intensity in all settlements of the Shirak region. Responsible units of the Shirak Regional Administration are receiving information from all communities regarding possible damages.”
“No reports of calls related to the aftermath of the earthquake have been registered with the 911 and ambulance services. A seismic event was recorded by the seismic protection territorial service at a geographic coordinate of 41.20° north latitude and 43.96° east longitude, in the border zone between Georgia and Armenia, 15 km northeast of the village of Bavra, with an epicenter depth of 10 km and a magnitude of 4.5. The intensity of the underground tremor at the epicentral area was rated at 6 on the Richter scale. According to the community leaders of Shirak region, at this moment, no collapses have been documented.”
