Investigation Underway: Prosecutor's Office on Incident at Armenian Ministry of Defense Military Unit
Reports have emerged since yesterday regarding an incident at one of the Armenian Ministry of Defense military units, where the chief of staff allegedly inflicted bodily harm on one of the unit's officers during a dispute. This was stated by the advisor to the Armenian Prosecutor General, Gor Abrahamyan.
“I find it necessary to inform you that based on the operational data received from the Martuni division of the Military Police, as well as the report received from the Armenian Ministry of Defense's military unit No. N located in the Vardenis region, materials have been prepared since April 2 in connection with the incident that occurred at the military unit in accordance with Articles 180-181 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia,” Abrahamyan noted.
“As a result of the factual data obtained, a criminal case was initiated today, April 4, at the military prosecutor's office of the Sevan garrison on the basis of Part 2 of Article 358.1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The criminal case has been sent to the Fifth Investigation Department of the Main Military Investigation Directorate of the RA Investigative Committee for pre-investigation, tasked with clarifying all circumstances of the incident, its causes through an objective, complete, and multifaceted investigation, and providing legal assessments to the actions of the involved individuals,” Abrahamyan added.
