Kremlin Must 'Take a Step Back': Johnson's Call to Putin
“The situation at the Russia-Ukraine border remains highly tense, but Moscow and London have the opportunity to resolve everything if the Kremlin 'takes a step back' and continues dialogue with the West,” said British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in a personal post on Twitter.
According to Johnson, if de-escalation measures are taken in a timely manner, the countries in the region can avoid the terrifying consequences of a potential war.
The British leader has urged all parties to resume peaceful negotiations. Earlier, Boris Johnson called on European nations to abandon purchases of Russian gas, stating, “We need to find alternative sources of energy and be ready to impose very serious economic restrictions on Russia.”
It was also reported that Johnson intended to discuss with EU leaders ways to prevent war in Ukraine and provide support to the Kyiv side in terms of defense.
The British Prime Minister’s office has announced that he will make every effort and use diplomatic means for de-escalation.
