Ukraine Requests Urgent Meeting with Russia: Details
Ukrainian authorities have requested a meeting with Russia and other countries that are members of the OSCE Vienna Document on Sunday. The aim of the discussion is to address the activities of Russian troops in border areas. This information comes from the BBC's Russian service.
“Ukraine is calling for consultations with Russia and all participating countries within the next 48 hours to discuss the buildup and movement of Russian troops along our border and in the temporarily occupied Crimea. If Russia takes its words about the inviolability of security in the OSCE area seriously, it must fulfill its obligations regarding military transparency to reduce tensions and enhance the security of all participating states,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba wrote on Twitter.
He stated that Russia should provide information on the locations of military exercises, the number of formations, as well as the types of weapons and military equipment in use.
It is noteworthy that the Vienna Document was adopted in 2011 and provides for the exchange of military information between OSCE member states, as well as mechanisms for preventing dangerous incidents.
