Groom Trapped in Elevator on Wedding Day, Emergency Services Share Humorous Incidents

Rescue service personnel assisted a groom who got trapped in an elevator on his wedding day. Arsen Mkrtchyan, head of the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, shared this information during a press conference held at the Armenpress press hall while summarizing calls received by the 911 service.

"On the wedding day, while climbing to the bride's house, the groom was trapped in the elevator. Our rescuers helped him reach his bride quickly," said Mkrtchyan. He noted that sometimes people call the 911 service with queries related to the spelling of words. In one case, a citizen was reporting an incident in English, but when the operator was confirming the address, the caller turned to a person next to him and asked in Armenian which district it was. When the operator questioned why he was speaking in English if he knew Armenian, the caller replied, 'I am a U.S. citizen.'"
He also mentioned an instance on New Year's when a woman called the 911 service requesting someone to speak to her child on behalf of Father Frost.
